Administrative Assistant I – Planning & Zoning Office - $20.18/hour (eff 7-1-15) – 40 hours Monday-Friday 8AM – 4:30PM.  Union Position with Benefits.

 The Administrative Assistant I performs highly responsible clerical and administrative work of moderate complexity involving the use of independent judgment and initiative based on general knowledge of the laws and regulations pertaining to the department served.  The position requires accuracy, attention to detail, organizational skills, and computer knowledge.  The Administrative Assistant I may be assigned the responsibility of training new workers. 

Minimum Qualifications:  Considerable knowledge of business English, grammar, punctuation, arithmetic.  Ability to obtain the knowledge of special laws, regulations and technical terminology.  Knowledge of English to speak, read, and understand written orders & prepare reports.  Knowledge of general office practices.  Must have computer knowledge.  Must possess proficient and responsive communication skills in greeting the public and answering phones. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Must attend Bi-monthly public meetings held in the evening and serve as recording clerk at these meetings.

Transfer Station Attendants – $9.15/hr

Per Diem Position – Public Works – Weekend availability a must, occasional fill–in on weekdays.

Clean CT driver’s license and background, ability to interact with courtesy and respect. Will assist residents with proper disposal of solid waste and recycling items.

Successful completion of a background check and post–hire physical and drug screening are conditions of employment.
