The Montville Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for fire code compliance, which includes annual inspections of every occupancy with the exception of one and two family dwelling units. Code enforcement activities are overseen by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire, Emergency & Building Services.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is also responsible for the investigation
of all fires for cause and origin, blasting permits, fire code
review for new construction, hazardous material vehicle
inspections, enforcement of the oil burner code, gas code, and
hazardous materials code. The Fire Marshal also serves as
the Town’s
open burning
official and the director of
Emergency Management
Additionally, the Fire Marshal serves as the immediate
supervisor of the Town's paid fire fighters and fire
dispatchers working out of the
Volunteer Fire Companies.
