Household Hazardous Waste Collection
Each year, the Town of Montville participates in a regional collection of household hazardous wastes. Five or six towns "host" a collection and residents of participating towns may go to any one of them to safely dispose of their hazardous wastes. Proof of residency (usually drivers' license) is required, and households are limited to no more than 20 gallons or 20 lbs.
Hazardous Waste materials include, but shall not be limited to, explosives, pathogenic or pathological wastes, radioactive wastes, lead and oil based paints, cleaning fluids, acids, poisons, medicines and other chemical wastes which by virtue of their chemistry and/or the method of their disposal present a threat to the quality of ground or surface waters.
