The Mayor serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Town and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of all town departments, personnel, and operations, with the exception of the public school system and the water and water pollution control departments.

The Mayor implements all ordinances and resolutions adopted by the Town Council and makes monthly reports to them.  The Mayor also makes recommendations to the Town Council and keeps them advised as to the financial condition of the town with the assistance of the director of finance.  The Mayor approves and submits an annual budget to the Town Council and submits a capital program as provided in the Town Charter.  A complete list of the duties of this office can be viewed in the Town Charter.
