We are trying to find out what the local laws say regarding riding motorized scooters on public streets.”

Title 14 of the Ct State Statutes prohibits them from being used on public roads - the scooters fall into the category of a minicycle as defined in statute number 14-1(46) because it has a wheel diameter of less than 10. That fact classifies it as a motorcycle pursuant to statute number 14-1(50). Because it falls under the classification of a motorcycle, it is is classified as a motor vehicle pursuant to statute 14-1(51), which means scooters being operated on the public road fall under statute 14-12(a) which provides: No motor vehicle shall be operated --- unless it is registered.
