Governor Rell Issues Statement About March Storm Damage Aid from FEMA
6/10/2010
Governor M. Jodi Rell today urged state residents to register their March storm damages by calling a FEMA hotline that has been set up to provide them with damage assistance. The governor said that potentially hundreds of families are at risk of missing out on aid because they have not registered with FEMA. They can do so by calling 1-800-621-3362 or visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov . “About 1500 Connecticut households have registered with FEMA, but more than 2400 homes were reported damaged,” Governor Rell said. “Many families might think – incorrectly – that they have registered for aid by calling our state’s 2-1-1 Infoline. That is not the number to call for federal assistance. We are urging those who have not called the FEMA hotline or registered online to please do so as soon as possible.” Governor Rell said that FEMA has already disbursed more than $1.5 million to Connecticut families, and families that fail to register will not be eligible for assistance.
