Old Colchester Bridge Construction to begin July 6 will cause detours

Attention Oakdale Residents:  Construction for the replacement of the bridge on Old Colchester Road over Oxoboxo Lake will begin on July 6.  Heavy equipment on and around the site pose a serious safety concern and the bridge will be closed for two periods, the first scheduled from July 6 to August 21 and the second period scheduled from September 27 to October 12.  

Detour routes will be clearly marked and will add approximately 6 miles to your travel each way.  There will be some noise, particularly as the cofferdams are pounded down into the water, which will take about five days.

Your patience and cooperation since the bridge washed out has been and is greatly appreciated.  Please call the Mayor’s office at (860) 848-3030 Ext. 301, or the Public Works Department at (860) 848-7473 with any concerns or questions.
