Hourly Rate: $16.35
The Town of Montville has an immediate opening for a part-time, Kitchen Site Server. This position is 17.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9:15am-12:45pm. If you are looking for a rewarding job and enjoy cooking, please consider joining us!
The Kitchen Site Server coordinates activities related to the preparation and serving of lunch pertaining to the Senior Center Meal Program, special events, and the food pantry at Center. The Kitchen Site Server prepares and serves lunch meals; cleans and washes equipment used in the preparation and serving of lunch; maintains a clean work area; establishes good rapport with Senior Center staff, participants and volunteers; and completes appropriate paperwork. This position is of a responsible, complex and confidential nature in planning, administrating, and organizing, and involves the exercise of independent judgment and initiative.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Coordinates and supervises volunteers and services pertaining to the lunch programs
*Prepares lunch daily for participants and assists with special events
*Stands for long periods of time; up to (4) hours
*Handles cold/hot food items; loads meals onto racks and in/out of refrigerators and stoves
*Works with industrial cleaning products following correct SDS procedures
*Cleans and sanitizes kitchen and eating areas daily; develops weekly cleaning schedule for
refrigerators/ovens and other areas*Follows all correct procedures pertaining to food counts & safety, i.e., 1) confirms and places food counts in appropriate time frame, 2) obtains food and refrigerator temperatures; 3) ensures proper sanitation, gloves, hair restraints, etc., are maintained; and 4) ensures proper food storage, handling and preparation techniques.*Maintains inventory; submits weekly and monthly paperwork/reports in a timely manner
*Adheres to all Town of Montville Policies and Procedures
*Presents a professional manner at all times
*Accompanies Director or Assistant at Food Bank, as needed
*Attends required trainings and meetings as required by Senior Center Director
*Develops and maintains effective and courteous working relationship with Senior Center Staff, Town officials, public officials, residents, members of the general public, other departments and agencies, co-workers, volunteers, and senior center clientele
Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS PROFILE:
Experience and Training Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
Thorough knowledge of food safety; certified as Qualified Food Handler
Understanding of the elderly, and the ability to work with the Senior Population and volunteers in a positive manner. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematics, i.e., counting, subtracting, and adding. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform work independently and to assume responsibility for the completion of routine duties. Ability to exercise mature judgement, maintains confidentiality, and makes responsible decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Special Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid Connecticut Driver's license.
Tools and Equipment Used: Ovens; refrigerators; coffee machine; copy machine; fax; phone; automobile.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described herein, are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, smell, speak and hear. Physical stamina and endurance are required. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, equipment or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must routinely lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in a kitchen setting and frequently works near electrical appliances and is frequently exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions, vibration, and fumes or airborne particles. The employee may occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic cleaning chemicals, extreme cold and extreme heat, and vibration.
The employee must be able to work harmoniously, cooperatively, and courteously with others at all times, and have mental capacity to handle stressful situations. The employee must be able to interact with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress as well as the ability to maintain a calm manner in stressful and emergency situations. An ability to adapt to varying work situations and establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others is also required. The noise level in the Senior Center is generally quiet, though can at times become moderately loud.
