Closed on the following holidays: New Year's Day, the Sunday before Presidents Day, Easter Sunday, the Sunday before Memorial Day, Independence Day, the Sunday Before Labor Day, the Sunday before Indigenous Peoples Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day.
Residents can drop off solid waste, bulky waste, and recyclables. The Town then "transfers" the waste materials to approved disposal and recycling sites. Scroll below for more information on the Transfer Station. Click the button below to view the Solid Waste regulations.
Solid Waste Collection & Disposal Regulations
AnnualPass: Montville residents annual passes run from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. These permit stickers must be attached to the vehicle to be valid and are available for purchase at the Public Works Admin building until noted otherwise.
- Annual Permit: $120.00 per vehicle
- Senior Permits (must be age 60 or older): $75.00 per vehicle
Single Trip Pass: $15.00 per trip passes are available for household garbage at the Transfer Station.
Recyclable Items: In addition to the curbside recycling collection program, the Town accepts the following items for recycling at the Transfer Station. There are no fees to drop off recyclables.
- Bottles and cans, Aluminum, Plastic Containers, Milk & Juice Cartons/Boxes: Clean separated; glass food and beverage containers; aluminum food containers and beverage containers, #1-7 plastic bottles and jugs; milk cartons & juice boxes.
- Cardboard: Corrugated boxes, and clean (no liners) food boxes only. Tie into bundles or secure properly.
- Newspapers & Miscellaneous papers: i.e., junk mail, newspapers, wrapping paper, cereal boxes (EMPTY). in brown paper bags or tied in bundles not more that 50 lbs.

In addition to the curbside recycling collection program, the Town, accepts the items listed below for recycling at the Transfer Station. There are no fees to drop off recyclables.
- Antifreeze: Accepted at the Transfer Station
- Automotive & marine batteries: Lead Acid only-NO leaking cases.
- Fluorescent light bulbs: These contain mercury, a known toxin
- Household alkaline batteries: Dispose of in regular trash.
- Leaves: Free of twigs and debris in brown paper bags.
- Motor oil, used oil filters: Leave containers or ask for assistance.
- Ni Cad Rechargeables: Accepted at the Transfer Station
- Re-usable Household items: Place in the designated area.
- Scrap electronics (Computers, monitors, televisions, VCRs, etc.): Place in the designated area.
- Scrap metal: Place in the designated area.
- Used clothing: Place in the designated drop-off box.
Punch Cards for Bulky Waste Disposal: This unique program was devised when the Town decided to no longer conduct curbside bulky waste collections. Each year residential property owners may obtain a free punch card from the Public Works Admin building or until noted otherwise from July 1 through June 30 which allows property owners to dispose of a specific number of certain bulky waste items at no charge.
